The adjacent areas of Skye and Lochalsh have long been a favourite for film makers looking for dramatic scenery with everything from big budget Marvel and Transformers movies to smaller scale things like Highlander and Stardust to art movies like Breaking The Waves filming there over the years.

Filming locations on Skye tend to be concentrated on the rock formations of the Trottenish Ridge at the Old Man of Storr and further north at the Quirang. Both are dramatic results of rock slippage as very large chunks of rock slide down from the main mountains

While in Lochalsh, Eilean Donan Castle is the castle of choice for many movies
