Glen Coe is the original Scottish highland filming location with Alfred Hitcock’s The 39 Steps filmed there in 1935, Monty Python and the Holy Grail in 1975, followed by Highlander in 1986,, Rob Roy and Braveheart in 1995 and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban in 2004. Of late however it seems to have fallen out of favour.
Morar has some spectacular sunsets but they rarely seem to make it into the movies filmed there which range from Highlander (it got everywhere) to Local Hero, Rob Roy and many others too.
Glen Nevis has seen identifiably Scottish themed movies like Highlander, Braveheart and Rob Roy along with Harry Potter movies all filmed there.
The adjacent areas of Skye and Lochalsh have long been a favourite for film makers looking for dramatic scenery with everything from big budget Marvel and Transformers movies to smaller scale things like Highlander and Stardust to art movies like Breaking The Waves filming there over the years.
