Perth railway station appeared twice in The Railway Man. Once masquerading as Crewe station when Eric Lomax (Colin Firth) is first seen getting onto a train and meeting Patti (Nicole Kidman) while the train pulls out of the station.

Filmed at the stairs on the first platform reached when going from the station entrance onto the Inverness line (Platform 3). Turn right once on the platform and the staircase can be seen. The view when the train pulls out of the station seen through the carriage window have Platform 4 as a backdrop

Later on in The Railway Man, Perth Station stands in for Edinburgh Waverly station when Eric once more meets Patti as she gets off the train in Edinburgh.

These scenes were filmed on Perth Station Platform 5 looking south. Platforms 1, 2 and 6 were not used in the movie, perhaps being kept in reserve for The Railway Man 2...
