Rob Roy has a swim.... |

The bridge next to the Eas Chia-aig waterfalls near Loch Arkaig was the bridge at Glen Orchy in Rob Roy. In the movie Rob Roy jumps over the bridge into waterfalls. As can be seen there is no waterfall under the bridge itself and the water is so shallow that Roy Roy would have broken a limb or three if he had fallen into it! The scenes in the film showing Rob Roy going down the falls were filmed on the waterfalls behind the bridge. A path from the bridge and the car park goes up alongside these waterfalls. |

To reach this location go north from Fort William on the A82. When you reach the Commando memorial near Spean Bridge take the road on the left (B8004) to Gairlochy. After a couple of miles, just after you pass over the Caledonian Canal, take the B8005 road on the right to Loch Arkaig. Go along this road for three or four miles until you reach the large carpark on the right for the waterfalls and forest walks. |
