The opening scenes of Flash Gordon were filmed at the airstrip near Breakish on the Island of Skye. My thanks to Ray Shields at the Kyleakin Village website for pointing this out.

The baggage handler at the airstrip was played by a young and rather thin Robbie Coltrane of Cracker fame. You can just make him out shutting the aircraft door in the movie.

The airstrip is about 280m from the main A87 road east of Breakish. There is a bit of space to park just outside the gates into the airstrip with a pedestrian entry next to the main gates.
