The beach scenes in The Winter Guest were filmed around Elie in Fife. From the main road in Elie take the minor road signposted to Ruby Bay Car Park and Picnic Area. Both the lighthouse and the beach next to the car park appear in the movie. You can either walk along the beach or follow one of several paths to the lighthouse.
